Text messaging is a very convenient way to contact your patients.

Imagine this scenario: A patient cancels two hours before his appointment. Rather than scramble on the phone to fill the appointment, you type a quick note text message note, “We have a cleaning appointment open at 11:00. Would you like to take it?” With the click of a mouse, you send the message to your entire “short notice” list.

 Text messages can be an invaluable tool, with many applications:

• Appointment reminders
• Pre-medication reminders
• Thank you, Happy Birthday, etc.

 And, if you think your patients won’t use text messaging, think again! The majority of individuals under age 25 report they prefer text messages to email. Just ask your patients, you may be surprised.
