Study Shows Satisfied Cloud Users Unclear on Cloud
A report from the NPD Group found that even the most satisfied users of cloud computing are not fully clear on a true definition. The only thing they seem to understand for sure is that they enjoy using it.
Whether it's consumer users playing a game online or a dental practice turning to a SaaS-powered solution, cloud computing has positively changed the way most people interact with both the internet and computers. More than 76 percent of survey respondents report using at least one SaaS solution every day without really knowing that they're using SaaS.
The growth of SaaS has forced declines in traditional on-premise software purchases in both consumer and enterprise segments. According to the NPD Group, less than one-quarter of respondents report buying an on-premise software solution in the last year.
SaaS solutions have become remarkably popular, as has the cloud in general. According to Forrester Research, the cloud will grow to more than $240 billion in revenue by 2020.
