SaaS, Cloud Technologies Changing Records Management
As more dental practices adopt SaaS and other cloud technologies to streamline IT processes, experts believe records management and storage processes must change, according to eWeek.
Chris Witt, president of Wake Technology Services, told the news provider that practices must choose cloud services suited to their specific needs. Some providers excel at serving large companies, while others maintain healthy relationships with smaller organizations.
From there, ensuring that technical elements of the partnership will work is critical. While lower costs and expedited deployment are generally among a company's primary reasons for moving to the cloud, the technology may require some hardware updates to perform optimally. Practices that can't afford such updates may want to choose a different vendor.
Data protection is equally important for dental practices moving to the cloud. Patient records contain sensitive information and any breach of it could result in fines and other sanctions. Using a Security-as-a-Service solution has become a popular method of protecting information for cloud users.
Outside of IT, advancements in dental technology, such as replacements for dental wax, have made going to the dentist less discomforting than it may have seemed in the past.
