Healthcare Sees Clouds on the Horizon

The dental and medical professions are changing drastically with new developments in technology, especially with the industry's increasing use of cloud computing.

At a recent healthcare IT conference, hCloud - aptly named for managing healthcare within cloud-based networks - was one of the main topics of discussion. Its data consolidation and recovery, information security and remote access may all be beneficial to dental and other healthcare-related industries, Seattle's Examiner reported.

However, many organizations are hesitant about making the full switch to the cloud because they are unsure of how it will affect the company. Many small businesses are worried about the financial costs, the risk management and the scalability of the services, the news source reported.

Yet, most agree that all of these areas yield benefits within the cloud. It is financially more affordable to make the switch to the cloud because the cloud does not require the pricey expenses of maintaining a physical server, and cloud-based networks store data online, making the information remotely accessible across the globe.

According to a study by Cloud Hypermarket, nearly three-quarters of organizations using cloud-based systems reported a reduced cost of their infrastructure, while 70 percent reported simplified IT-management processes. With an easier management process and money being saved, small dental and healthcare organizations across the globe are realizing the benefits of converting to the cloud.
