Collaboration, Costs Savings Motivate Small Businesses to the Cloud

Cloud computing is becoming increasingly popular among small businesses. In response to this, SmallBiz Technology conducted a survey to discover the motives behind small firms' migration to the cloud.

The survey found that 50 percent of responding organizations claimed to use the cloud because of its ability to make collaboration easier. This is partially because the cloud automatically installs updates throughout the network, minimizing the need for organizations to worry that some employees are not using up-to-date applications.

Additionally, the survey found that more than 40 percent of respondents claimed that the cloud helps them cut costs, save time and store data more securely. The cloud allows organizations to pay for storage as they use it, instead of upfront, and can be implemented with minimal lag time, allowing the business to continue working productively.

Many industry observers expect that more organizations will continue to migrate to the cloud as they realize the number of benefits that the technology provides. According to Markets and Markets, the global cloud computing market is anticipated to grow to more than $121 billion in 2015. This suggests that as more businesses, including dental practices, use the cloud, it will become a necessity as well as a competitive advantage.
