Cloud Computing is the Future

At the recent 2011 VMworld General Sessions in Las Vegas, Paul Martiz, the chief executive officer at VMware, stated that even though he grew up in the mainframe era, the time for cloud computing technology is now.

"In three years, more than 80 percent of the devices connecting to the Internet will not be Windows-based personal computers," he told the audience at the convention, according to TechTarget. "With that kind of scale, we're going to have to see new techniques and new approaches introduced into the world of IT."

Cloud computing offers real-time data that is accessible all over the world, and its customized context, relevant to each industry, will be important for organizations to remain connected to customers and clients, he continued.

Healthcare and dental professionals can benefit from using the cloud because it can make accessing patient history and personal information easier, allowing the company to run more efficiently. According to edCetra Training, 59 percent of the healthcare industry is already using cloud computing. In order to remain productive and competitive with larger firms, small healthcare businesses may consider transitioning to the cloud.
